Bollywood
filmmaker, Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambri Bhatt were arrested by Rajasthan Police on December 7, last year, in Mumbai. An alleged Rs 30 crore case was filed against the couple by Udaipur based Dr. Ajay Murdia. The filmmaker was booked for fraud and cheating, including false assurance for film’s profits. Bhatt and his wife were granted bail by the Supreme Court in February. He recently shared a personal note on his social media accounts recalling his health scare during jail time.
Bhatt’s Tormenting Experience From Jail
Vikram shared a deep personal note via his Facebook and Instagram on April 14. Bhatt explained how his health worsened during the harsh cold winters of January, and also suffered from extreme fever. He wrote, “I remember one particular night in Barrack 10”, and explained that after 3 weeks in jail, one night he felt extremely cold and his body was shivering. With four blankets and after taking paracetamol, he had no relief at all. Further, he explained how he went to the prison's hospital, where they had no thermometer. Instead, they checked his blood oxygen saturation, to which they assured him he was fine. “You must be joking. I’m shaking with fever, and you say I’m fine?” Bhatt exclaimed. Explaining to the doctor, he shared his autoimmune disorder called ‘Axial spondyloarthritis’, which can get worse due to high fever. Even after being taken to a hospital outside the jail, the filmmaker never received proper medical care.
Bhatt Deals The Suffering On His Own
Waiting for days in his barrack with burning fever, Bhatt realised that he had to deal with this on his own. “I decided to stop eating oil and salt completely and drank as much water as I could to keep myself hydrated”, Bhatt tried to find a cure. He described that the most important thing, other than taking his light medications, was praying to Goddess's painting that was nearby. He prayed for days, hoping to be better and thinking of his wife, children and a 90-year-old father who was alone, as he did not wish to die there. Gradually, the fever subsided and strength was regained. He thanked the Devi for giving him life. Surprisingly, the policeman returned after 15 days to escort him to the hospital. Bhatt shared his conversation with the police to which he sarcastically told them they were too late to save him.
Vikram concluded with gratitude, said some people might think there is no God, but it is only visible to those who need him the most.
