On January 19, BTS’ agency Big Hit Music addressed the growing speculation while speaking to Newsen. Reacting to reports of a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square, the agency stated, “We are currently discussing it, and an official announcement will be made once the location and schedule are finalised.” While the statement neither confirms nor denies the event, it has kept hopes alive among fans who are eagerly awaiting a special pre-release moment from the group.According to reports, Big Hit Music has recently applied to the National Heritage Administration for permission to use and film multiple historic locations in Seoul. These reportedly include Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the Sungnyemun Gate area. The matter is set to be reviewed by the Cultural Heritage Committee at 2 PM on January 20. If approved, it could pave the way for a visually grand and culturally significant BTS event ahead of their comeback.

BTS officially ended their group hiatus due to military service in June last year and are now gearing up for a full-fledged return on March 20 with their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG. The album features 14 tracks and draws its title from Korea’s representative folk song, symbolising heritage, unity, and emotional resonance. The members have reportedly poured their identity and the emotions they wish to share with fans into the album. The cover of Arirang has already been unveiled as part of a massive promotional campaign under HYBE, following the comeback announcement made during a Weverse live on January 1, 2026.

Following the album release, BTS will embark on a new world tour, kicking off with a concert at Goyang Stadium on April 9. The tour will span 34 cities and 79 shows, making it the largest tour in K-pop history so far. Cities confirmed include Tokyo, Mexico, Las Vegas, Busan, Madrid, Paris, Chicago, Los Angeles, Singapore, Bangkok, Sydney, and Hong Kong, with more dates expected to be added in Japan and the Middle East.Adding to the comeback frenzy, pre-orders for Arirang began on January 16, 2026, and are reportedly already sold out.
