Fukrey gang reunites for yet another light-hearted entertainer, titled Rahu Ketu. Directed by Vipul Vig, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma headline the film with Shalini Pandey. Ahead of its January 16 release, the Fukrey duo spoke to Zoom exclusively and shared their views on the audience not taking every joke nicely. Observing the shift in content consumption, Pulkit and Varun agreed that actors have to make jokes responsibly and not at the cost of a person’s self-esteem. “That’s not joking, it is called bullying,” said Pulkit and Varun seconded that thought. The former further praised Kapil Sharma for using his life experiences to make people laugh.
Pulkit Samrat on actors making jokes responsibly
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Pulkit said, “Sometimes, people don’t take a joke nicely, but we also have the responsibility of making a joke nicely. We should not be crossing the line, but understand the audience. We always gauge the room. It is not necessary to be oversmart all the time with respect to what kind of jokes the audience is open to. If it is a roast and it is intentional, then everyone is playing along. If it is not a roast and you are expecting a Kapil Sharma Show there and get roasted, people will get offended. Kapil is doing a fantastic job at responsibly making people laugh. He is using his jokes and life experiences to entertain the audience.”
Varun Sharma says...
Varun added, “Kisi aur ka mazak udana humare liye comedy nahi hai. It is the easiest to make fun of a person, but I believe that is not the right space. There is always an attempt not to make the other person feel bad. Saamne smile kar raha hai lekin ghar jaake na (bura) soche.”
