Streep and Anne Hathaway have returned as Miranda Priestly and Andrea Sachs in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. Nearly two decades after the original, the film has returned with both nostalgia and fresh appeal, and audiences seem to be responding. Also reprising his role alongside the three divas is Stanley Tucci, fan-favourite as the stylish and sharp-tongued Nigel. Joining the returning cast is Oscar-winning actor Kenneth Branagh, who will play Miranda Priestly’s husband, adding new adventures to the icy editor-in-chief’s personal life. The sequel has been doing decent,boxoffice-wise, as it was indeed one of the most-anticipated films of the year.

The Devil Wears Prada Box Office Collection

After opening with decent numbers, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has shown a slight growth at the Indian box office on Saturday. According to Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 4 crore net on Day 2. This marks a 5.3% rise as compared to its Day 1 earnings of Rs 3.80 crore. As of now, the film's total India net collection reportedly stands at Rs 9.50 crore, and the gross collection has reached Rs 11.37 crore.

As per Deadline, the film has already grossed $114.6 million worldwide, showcasing a strong performance. Out of this, $82.1 million has come from 51 international markets, while North America contributed $32.5 million, including preview figures. The film reportedly added $27.5 million overseas on Friday.Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is a Meryl Streep super fan, has talked about the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada and reflected how the first installment is steeped in personal nostalgia, while the follow-up resonates deeply with reality as it touches upon the fading charm of print journalism and the overwhelming surge of digital culture. Karan, who went to the screening of the sequel to the 2006 film starring Anne Hathaway and Streep, shared a poster for the second installment and noted how nostalgia is powerful.Karan said he understood Miranda Priestly's pursuit of excellence and perfection. He said that he wondered how hr would feel revisiting Andy, Nigel, Emily and Miranda.Speaking about the characters, he concluded that Miranda is more vulnerable, Andy is more hopeful and Nigel is more amiable, lauding Emily, he wrote that she is just wonderful!
