Ek Din revolves around Dinesh (Junaid), a shy and introvert IT worker who secretly loves his colleague Meera (Sai).During a company trip to Japan, a wish for one day of love comes true when Mira temporarily loses her memory, creating a connection between them for 24 hours. As Dino loves Meera, he tells her that they are in a love affair, taking an innocent advantage of her memory loss. They spend a romantic day touring Japan, but the film focuses on the psychological consequences of his lie and Mira's eventual recovery of her memories.

Aamir personally feels that when you come across a material that really excites you, touches you, moves you, it's been made in another part of the world in another language. He also menitoned that he has never had problems doing remakes for the last 38 years, and will not have any problems doing remakes going ahead as well.
