witnessed an energetic start to its elections as voters, celebrities and political leaders lined up early at polling booths across the state. Among the first to cast his vote was Drishyam 3 actor Mohanlal, who arrived before polling began in Thiruvananthapuram. His Patriot co-star, Mammootty also arrived at the voting centre. The polling process got participation, with actors like Suresh Gopi and Prithviraj Sukumaran also voting early. Senior leaders including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Opposition leader V D Satheesan spoke about the election’s importance.
Kerala Votes 2026: Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi Among Early Voters
Kerala’s polling day began with enthusiasm as veteran actor Mohanlal cast his vote at Mudavanmugalil School i Thiruvananthapuram at 7 am. Dressed in a simple white shirt, he stood patiently in line at Booth 36 in the Nemom constituency. Notably, he arrived before polling officially began, showing his commitment to civic duty.
After voting, Mohanlal shared a message on social media urging citizens to participate, stating that he had fulfilled his responsibility and encouraging others across Kerala to do the same. Mammootty arrived with his wife Suflath.
Several other prominent figures from the Malayalam film industry also exercised their franchise. Suresh Gopi voted at Guruvayoor, while Varanasi actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and his wife Supriya cast their votes at Thevara Fisheries School. Renji Panicker voted at the Kadavanthara YMCA and spoke on the strength of India’s democracy. He said that democracy functions through both favourable and challenging times, adding that India’s democratic system stands out when compared with other nations that gained independence around the same period.
Leaders Talk About Importance of the Election
Political leaders across party lines also voted early and shared their perspectives. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan cast his vote in Kannur along with his family. He described the election as crucial for Kerala’s future, stressing continuity, development and low corruption under the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He expressed confidence that voters would support the government’s track record.Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan urged citizens to ensure maximum turnout, calling it essential for a healthy democracy. He predicted a decisive mandate in favour of the United Democratic Front (UDF). Union Minister Suresh Gopi and BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar also cast their votes early in the day. Both leaders expressed optimism about political change in the state, highlighting their party’s efforts to expand its influence in Kerala’s political landscape. Voting commenced across Kerala with a strong show of enthusiasm. More than 2.71 crore voters are eligible to participate in deciding the state’s next government. Polling stations witnessed steady queues from early morning, with people from all walks of life turning up to cast their ballots.
