Among the many rumours doing the rounds, one in particular caught fans’ attention - the possibility of Akshaye Khanna returning to the popular Race franchise. As fans remember his iconic role in the first instalment and the franchise, the buzz felt believable. However, recent clarifications from the film’s producer Ramesh Taurani suggest that fans may need to temper their expectations.
Akshaye Khanna to return to Race 4?
The
Race franchise is officialluy gearing up for its fourth instalment. Earlier peculations suggested that
Akshaye Khanna, along with Saif Ali Khan, both original leads from
Race (2008), might reunite for the upcoming film. This rumour quickly gained traction, exciting fans of the franchise. However, producer Ramesh Taurani has put these rumours to rest. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Taurani denied approaching Akshaye Khanna for
Race 4. “No, we have not approached Akshaye. There was no scope at all,” he stated, making it clear that the actor’s return was never on the table.
Why Akshaye Khanna’s character won’t return
When asked whether the storyline could be reworked to accommodate Akshaye Khanna’s character, Taurani dismissed the idea. He explained that Akshaye’s character met with an accident in the first film, effectively concluding his arc. “His track ended there, and it will remain at that,” he confirmed, shutting down any possibility of a comeback.
Will Sidharth Malhotra join Saif Ali Khan in Race 4?
Taurani also clarified that no cast has been finalised for
Race 4 yet, despite rumours linking Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra to the project. “The work on the script is on,” he said, indicating that the film is still in its early development stage. While
Race 2 featured John Abraham as the antagonist and
Race 3 introduced Salman Khan as the lead,
Race 4 remains a mystery, for now.
