Gupta’s father had secretly manifested his son’s song in the second part of Dhurandhar after watching the prequel in theatres last year. Call it Destiny’s game or blessings; the young singer received a call from the music team just in time. What followed were sleepless nights, various renditions of the song Mann Atkeya and director Aditya Dhar’s relentless efforts to meet the March 19 release deadline. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Vaibhav recalled spending hours at the recording studio and how Aditya was present throughout with the team.

Vaibhav Gupta praises Aditya Dhar for his energy and passion

Talking to Zoom, Vaibhav revealed Aditya would always be there in the recording studio when Mann Atkeya was being recorded. “Jitne bhi din maine recording kiya hai, Aditya sir studio mein rehte the chahe voh subah ke 5 baj rahe ho ya raat ke 3. Jitne bhi recordings hue hai, voh vahan rehte the. Voh hum sab se zyada hard work karte the. Last ke kuch dino mein, maine unko bohot kam sote hue dekha hai. Shashwat sir ko bhi kam sote hue dekha hai. Shayad ek ya do ghante power nap lete the. Aditya sir bhi. Unko dekhke hume energy aati thi. Ek alag hi vahan pe energy thi. Sab jag ke kaam kar rahe the. Voh energy alag thi vahan pe.” (Translation: Whenever I was recording, he would be there; be it at 5 AM or 3 AM. Aditya sir would always be there. He was working more than anyone of us. As the final countdown to the release began, he would hardly sleep. Even Shashwat (Sachdev, music director) sir. Maybe they took a power nap for an hour or two. We could sense his energy. It was different on this film. Everyone worked with sleepless nights.)

Sleepless nights paid off

Vaibhav further said those sleepless nights paid off when he received unconditional love from the team of Dhurandhar 2 and also the audience. “Aditya sir ne mujhe gale lagaya. Bola ki meri aawaz mein bohot taakat hai aur career mein bohot aage jaunga. Unki tareef sunke accha laga. Yeh joh one month ki sleepless nights thi voh puri hote hue dikha jab gaane ki itni tareef hui. Ranveer Singh ka pyaar mila. Dhurandhar 2 ke success party mein pyaar mila.
