Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ready to release on Christmas Day this year, all eyes are on the second season. The HBO series will adapt JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets next and actor John Lithgow dropped a hint about when he's ready to head back to Hogwarts. The Crown star plays Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of the wizarding school that Harry Potter attends. He is currently playing Roald Dahl in the Tony-nominated Broadway play Giant and shared that Daniel Radcliffe came to see him perform.
John Lithgow drops news on Harry Potter Season 2
While appearing on
The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lithgow had promising news about when the next season is set to begin. He shared that the entire first season was done and he would start Season 2 in the fall. The HBO reboot show is adapting all seven books in the
Harry Potter series, after the film franchise, and they estimate that it will take nearly ten years to finish them all.
The veteran actor went on to add, "About half the crew I worked with on The Crown, which, until now, is the best television I've ever done. You put on that beard down to here, these long cloaks and the floppy hats; it's magic!" He hailed the marvelous actors he was working with while also revealing that the previous Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, came to see him perform in
Giant on Broadway. Lithgow shared that Radcliffe was "wonderful." Dominic McLaughlin takes over the role of young wizard Harry Potter on the HBO show. His best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, are played by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, respectively.

The show is currently in the casting stage for the next season. There was a recent reshuffling on the HBO show after young child actor Gracie Cochrane shared that she wouldn't be back for the next season as Ginny Weasley "due to unforeseen circumstances."
Deadline reports that the show is casting for the role of Colin Creevey, the Gryffindor student who is also a budding photographer and could become a recurring part on the show. Besides recasting the part of Ginny Weasley, the show will also be looking to cast a big-name actor as Gilderoy Lockhart, the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.
