Pawan Kalyan made a massive film comeback with They Call Him OG, which was released on September 25 last year. Fans celebrated it as the film arrived in theatres after he took charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Directed by Sujeeth, OG featured Pawan Kalyan in a stylish and charismatic role that struck a chord with his fans. The director had also included several hints throughout the film, pointing toward the possibility of either a sequel or a prequel. Now, Pawan Kalyan has confirmed news of the film's second part.
Pawan Kalyan Gives Update on OG 2
Bringing an end to the speculation, Pawan Kalyan Creative Works, the actor’s production banner, shared an update on social media.“As promised, he will. The timing, he will let us know. Once Sujeeth returns from abroad, we will discuss OG2,” the post read.The latest update confirms that OG 2 is indeed in the pipeline and that Pawan Kalyan is interested in expanding the franchise.
For the record, OG turned out to be a significant box-office success, earning close to Rs 300 crore during its theatrical run. Thaman’s music and background score were praised and are considered among the film’s biggest strengths, contributing to its success.Priyanka Mohan played the female lead in the film, while Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi made his Telugu cinema debut as the antagonist.
Pawan Kalyan about OG Success
Speaking at the success meet, Pawan Kalyan said that while writing a story is relatively easy, bringing it to life on screen is far more challenging. He revealed that he was not fully aware of the complete story of OG when the film was first discussed. After being introduced to director Sujeeth through director Trivikram, he got to know that the film would feature him as a gangster dressed in Japanese attire, wielding both a sword and a gun. Although he did not completely grasp the story at the time, he later understood its relevance for the younger generation after seeing his son enthusiastically reading the film’s notes.
Pawan Kalyan further confirmed plans to explore both a sequel and a prequel to OG. He acknowledged the disappointment that comes when a film fails but mentioned that the success of OG had has reignited his enthusiasm for acting. The actor who is busy with his political commitments, is hopeful to continue expanding the OG universe whenever his schedule permits.The film was produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under the banner of DVV Entertainment.
