Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated return to the horror-comedy genre withBhooth Bangla has been delayed with its earlier April 2, 2026 release date now postponed. The film marks a reunion between Akshay and
director Priyadarshan after 14 years, reviving the duo’s signature blend of slapstick, scares, and family-friendly entertainment. Balaji Motion Pictures, the production house behind the movie took to social media to announce the new release date of the film - May 15, 2026. Initially slated for April 2, 2026, the film has been postponed to avoid a direct clash with Dhurandhar 2, which hits theaters on March 19. The decision comes amid concerns that the massive buzz surrounding the action-packed sequel could limit audience attention and box office potential for Bhooth Bangla. The movie has also averted clash with Yash's Toxic which is slated for release on March 19, 2026.

Dhurandhar's phenomenal success
The first
Dhurandhar film was a phenomenal success, earning over ₹800 crore domestically and surpassing ₹1,200 crore globally. Its sequel promises to build on the high-octane espionage and patriotism that fans loved, continuing the story of Indian spy Hamza as he infiltrates Pakistan’s criminal networks tied to terror operations. With Arjun Rampal reprising his role as Major Iqbal, aka Bade Sahab, the sequel is expected to dominate cinemas for several weeks.
About Bhooth Bangla
Bhooth Bangla, on the other hand, marks the long-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years. Set across multiple timelines from the 1950s to the present, the film promises a mix of folklore, supernatural scares, and classic Priyadarshan slapstick. The strategic postponement is aimed at giving the film the necessary window to attract its core family audience and ensure maximum impact at the box office. While fans may be disappointed, the delay is seen as a calculated move rather than a setback.
