Be Mindful Of Your Screen, Codex May Now Remember Your Work

Tech giant OpenAI has rolled out an update to its Codex coding platform, dubbed Chronicle. This feature will help the AI to remember what you created on the platform. As a result, the AI model can understand your prompts better and do your work next time, without needing context every time you start coding. How The Codex Update WorksOpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared the tweet of Thibault Tibo Sottiaux, the chief of Codex, who stated that as Chronicle consumes a lot of tokens (the unit used to measure AI) at the moment, it can affect the way users work on Codex. He took to X and said, “This is early and consumes quite a bit of tokens, but it has changed how I and many folks at OpenAI use Codex.” Altman revealed how the internal working name for this

tool was 'telepathy,' and it feels like it. This update is built to make memories to remember about the work you do on the Codex platform. These memories can be used by OpenAI's coding tool to finish tasks for users without humans to provide context every time. In simple words, once the AI remembers your prompts and details, the next time you can simply command Codex to execute something on this or that again.

The Sam Altman-led company wrote in its blog post, “No need to carefully craft your context and start from zero. Chronicle lets Codex fill in the gaps in your context.”

Who Can Use The Chronicle?This newly rolled out feature is currently accessible as an opt-in research preview for ChatGPT Pro subscribers on macOS. However, the feature is not accessible in the UK, EU, and Switzerland as of now. To enable the feature, users can go to the Memories setting page on the Codex app. To move ahead with it, you will need to grant access to the Codex for screen recording.
