Veteran
filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani left for his heavenly abode on Thursday (June 4). The former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson breathed his last at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai's Juhu area in the early hours of the day. Reportedly, he had been battling liver cirrhosis and succumbed to complications arising from the disease. In remembrance of his immense contributions to the Indian film industry, several Bollywood celebrities extended their condolences to his family. His funeral, held in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon, was attended by Govinda, Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, Malaika Arora and several others.

Not many know that it was
Pahlaj Nihalani who introduced Govinda to the Hindi film industry. He launched the actor in 1986 with
Ilzaam. Following the film's success, the duo collaborated on several other projects, and their bond eventually went beyond a professional relationship.A visibly emotional Govinda arrived for the funeral on Thursday afternoon.
After paying his last respects, he spoke to the reporters before leaving the venue. He said, "The highly respected Pahlaj Nihalani ji was a foundation stone for many of us. Several artists, including me, who rose from difficult and financially challenging circumstances, received his support and encouragement." Govinda added that there must be at least a dozen artists in the country whose careers were shaped by his guidance. He said that Pahlaj had a rare ability to identify talent and help people rise from the ground to great heights. "It was a gift bestowed upon him by God. On behalf of the entire Sindhi community, I offer my respects to him and pray that his soul rests in peace," said the
Hero No 1 actor.
Others In Attendance
Farhan Akhtar was among the members of the film fraternity who gathered to pay their last respects to the veteran producer and
former CBFC chairperson. He was seen comforting the bereaved family members with warm hugs as he offered his sincere condolences.
Malaika Arora, along with sister Amrita Arora and son Arhaan Khan, was also seen arriving at the funeral. Varun Dhawan and Shatrughan Sinha were among the others spotted there.
