BTS member Jungkook is facing the dark side of global fame yet again. The singer gave a stern warning to those who gathered outside his home after a casual interaction with a fan online quickly turned into a privacy issue. Jungkook is known for having one of the closest relationships with fans among K-pop stars, regularly communicating with ARMYs via social media, live broadcasts, and impromptu interactions. But, his latest experience has reignited conversations on the issue of sasaeng culture and celebrity stalking that has long been an issue in South Korea. The latest incident occurred shortly after Jungkook returned to South Korea after BTS wrapped up the North American leg of its ongoin ARIRANG World Tour. On June 1, the Golden Maknae took
time out to chat with fans during an Instagram Q&A session, fielding a variety of lighthearted questions.
Jungkook asks fans to meet him for selfies by Han River
He later posted a video to show he's going out for a run by the Han River. JK even jokingly told fans that anyone who happened to see him during the run should come over and take a selfie with him.
Jungkook abided by his promise when some lucky fans got the chance to meet the BTS star in the public area and take photos with him. Videos circulating on the internet show Jungkook warmly greeting fans, assisting them in finding good lighting to take pictures, and creating memorable moments with those who crossed paths with him. But, a positive fan interaction reportedly took an uncomfortable turn.
Light-hearted interaction turns ugly
Not long after that, Jungkook found out that some people had apparently begun waiting around his house. He shared a short video message on Instagram in his response, saying he never wanted fans to gather around his private home. Visibly frustrated, he told the perpetrators to stop, and threatened to name and shame repeat offenders if the conduct continued. While he delivered the message with playful punching gestures toward the camera, the underlying message was unmistakable, that his residence remains off limits.
Jungkook's warning
The warning was shared on social media and was widely supported by fans of the singer. As others have pointed out, Jungkook has tried multiple times to create a friendly and sincere relationship with fans, only for a small handful of people to cross personal boundaries.
Previous cases of sasaeng barging into his personal space
Unfortunately, this is far from the first time Jungkook has faced such issues. Over the years, he has publicly asked people not to send food deliveries to his home or try to get his personal information. There have also been multiple reports involving trespassing and stalking incidents. In 2025, a woman was reportedly arrested after attempting to access his residence shortly after his military discharge. Other incidents have involved unauthorised photographs during private travel and alleged stalking at public events.
Rising cases of celeb stalking and security concern
These repeated experiences have fueled growing concerns about artist safety in the South Korean entertainment industry. While dedicated fans continue to celebrate Jungkook's openness and kindness, many argue that admiration should never come at the cost of an artist's privacy. The latest incident serves as a reminder that there is a crucial difference between supporting an idol and invading their personal space. Jungkook's message was simple but important, that genuine fan love respects boundaries, and no celebrity should have to sacrifice their sense of safety at home.
