Meta
has once again quietly introduced a new app that may have resembling features with other platforms. It has brought a Forum app on iOS which seems to focus on discussions and community conversations similar to Reddit. This app was first spotted by the social media consultant Matt Navarra and launched before any official announcement. It is currently available in select regions.
How Forum App Works
As per the App Store description, users can sign in with their
Facebook account to access Forum. Once logged in, their existing Facebook groups, profile information and activity will automatically move to the new app. This app is reportedly designed to help users connect through global communities, hobbies, recommendations and support groups. Moreover, users can also create posts using nicknames instead of their real names, providing them more privacy when taking part in discussions, just like Reddit. As per several media reports, the app’s main feed shows discussions from a user's groups. It also let people continue conversations from where they ended them previously, making it easier to follow community debates and active topics. Another key highlight of this app is said to be its Ask button. This tool reportedly collects answers and recommendations from various groups across the app to help users to get quick responses.
Additionally, the app also comes with
AI-led features for group administrators. These tools can help the admins with moderation, community management and keeping discussions healthy while admins continue to stay in control of their groups.
As of now, this Meta app only supports devices running on iOS 18 or later and carries a 13+ age rating on the App Store. Although Meta has not officially announced a wider rollout, the app’s appearance suggests the company is exploring a stronger position in the online discussion and community space dominated by Reddit.
