Spotify
has officially revealed its Songs of Summer 2026 prediction list, but BTS fans are not happy. Infact many are taking to social media to reject the list all together, while also slamming the music streaming app for not including any track of BTS' ARIRANG. That's because the band's latest comeback album has been making waves across global ranks and streams ever since it released, while also marking the big return of BTS to music post the seven members' mandatory military service. While ARIRANG continues to create waves across the world, Spotify counting it out has led to angry reactions.
Spotify releases Songs of Summer 2026 prediction list
On May 29, Spotify dropped its famous and highly anticipated Songs of Summer 2026 predictions via its social media handles. It includes a total of 30 tracks across gernes, languages and artists from around the world, which the streaming giant believes may dominate playlists, social media trends and warm-weather soundtracks in the coming months. The list features pop, dance, country, Afrobeats, alternative music and viral internet hits.
According to Spotify, the "song of the summer" this year is less about genre and more about mood during road trips, beach days, parties and late-night hangouts. "Biggest contenders are songs that have the ability to cross cultures, demographics and musical tastes, while capturing a certain seasonal mood." Spotify said in a statement.
Artists in the list
Ariana Grande with hate that I made you love me, Olivia Rodrigo with drop dead, Drake with Janice STFU, Noah Kahan with Doors, and Zara Larsson with Midnight Sun, are some names part of the list. Jennie is the only K-pop artist who also dinds a place for Dracula, her collaboration with Tame Impala.
BTS fans angry over band's exclusion
This left ARMYs disappointed and angry. The primary reason here is despite
BTS album ARIRANG being on a record smashing spree, and even picking 3 honours at the recently held American Music Awards 2026, Spotify did not include the band. For the unversed, SWIM, the title track of ARIRANG received the Song of Summer 2026 at the
AMAs along with BTS smashing the biggest honours, the Artist of the Year Award.
Many BTS fans took to X formerly Twitter) and posted reactions. One fan wrote, "U chose a song that just came out today but didn't choose a song thats 1 on every single streaming app?? What do yall have against BTS???" Another fan reacted, "Based on what criteria you choose summer song... Song that was released today was on the list but not swim. Swim is doing well and stable also won amas summer song. What excuse now other than counting manually."
Netizens react to SWIM not making it to 'Song of Summer'
An ARMY stated, "'Song of the Summer' and then you choose to ignore the song that literally won the 'Song of the Summer' award at the AMAs and is one of the highest streamed songs of 2026. Oh Spotify, you can't affect us. We're gonna #KeepSwimming" One post read, "Wow swim by bts is not there... such a disrespect towards the summer song that got streamed the most in your app"
Spotify added a new fan voting feature this year enabling the users to vote directly in the Songs of Summer playlist to predict which track will ultimately become the defining anthem of Summer 2026.
