Saat Samundar: TMMTMTTM Actress Ananya Panday, Cousin Ahaan Panday's Video Dancing To OG Version Goes Viral

Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday-starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’s new song, a reprised version of the iconic Saat Samundar Paar, has landed in trouble. Trimurti Films Pvt Ltd has filed a lawsuit against Dharma Productions, Namah Pictures Pvt Ltd, Saregama India Ltd and Badshah, alleging copyright infringement. Originally from Vishwatma (1992), the song has been recreated by the makers for the upcoming release. The petitioner has sought a permanent injunction to restrain the use of the track, including its tune and lyrics, in any form of exploitation or remix in the film. Amid the case, an old video of Ananya dancing to the original version has resurfaced online, also featuring her father Chunky Panday and cousin Ahaan Panday.Ananya

Saat Samundar Paar ControversyTrimurti, owner of the copyright of Vishwatma, has claimed that the makers of TMMTMTTM have remixed the song without authorisation. In their complaint, they stated, “The agreement did not confer any right to grant the said song a new identity or character by embedding it within a different cinematograph film, nor to alter, modify or adapt the original work in a manner that results in its transformation or recontextualisation. Any such use amounts to an unauthorised alteration and distortion of the original work undertaken without the consent of the authors of the underlying works.”They added, “Such misrepresentation has been done deliberately so as to ride upon the reputation and goodwill of Trimurti. Such wrongful actions amount to tort of passing off and unfair trade practices and are actionable as a civil wrong.”Saregama's predecessor, The Gramophone Company of India Ltd, only had rights limited to reproduction and distribution of existing, original audio work.The makers are yet to react to the allegation. Meanwhile, the film will release in theatres on Christmas.
