Border 2 Producer Nidhi Dutta: Armed Forces Not Part Of Propaganda, It's Most Selfless Act - Exclusive
Times Now
In the current tense, critical and scrutinised social media scenario, patriotic cinema often gets termed as ‘propaganda’. Talking to Zoom exclusively, Border 2’s co-producer Nidhi Dutta reacted to the frequent
use of the word. The film, based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war, released in theatres worldwide on January 23. Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty are headlining it as army, air force and navy officers. Nidhi, who has produced the war drama with Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, said propaganda doesn’t apply to the Indian Armed Forces, without whom no civilian would be safe from attacks.
Border 2 producer reacts to propaganda term in cinema
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Nidhi set the record straight, saying, “Army officers are not a part of any propaganda. They’re out there to protect us. There is no propaganda in it.” She further added that if they decide not to, ‘the drones that are coming in from our lovely neighbours every second would be in this office right now.’
Nidhi, the elder daughter of veteran filmmaker JP Dutta, further added, “It is not the right word to use for the armed forces. It is the most selfless act of soldiers to stand there. Probably he hasn’t seen us. His family, which doesn’t know us. If I don’t tell their stories, I don’t think I am doing justice to the country. Everyone who is saying propaganda, I would like to ask, what have you done for your country?”
