star Ranveer Singh is not turning into Lord Shiva for the speculated screen adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha, author Amish Tripathi has said. Reacting to the report that surfaced on May 11, the brain behind the bestseller rejected the claim on Tuesday. Amish quashed the rumour that Ranveer acquired the cinematic rights of the trilogy books for a hefty amount. Earlier, it was reported that the project is being backed by Ranveer's own production banner, Maa Kasam Film. It further stated that the adaptation was currently under development, and Ranveer has partnered with Aditya Birla's Birla Studios to develop the mythological epic as a grand-scale trilogy.
Amish Tripathi's reaction to report
On May 12, Variety India quoted Amish's statement, where he rejected Ranveer's involvement. According to the publication, he said, "The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone as yet. Of course, I have huge respect for Ranveer, and am a big fan of his. But this news is not true."

Ranveer Singh has acquired the rights to The Immortals of Meluha for a huge sum, which has been kept under wraps. The report further stated that the actor was developing the mythological epic as a grand-scale trilogy with Aditya Birla.It further said that the 40-year-old actor has been keen on turning Amish Tripathi's books for the big screen for a long time. The fantasy novel was "currently in the writing stage, and the first part is expected to go on floors in 2028," the publication quoted a source.
The Immortals of Meluha is a three-part fantasy novel by Indian writer Amish Tripathi. Set in 1900 BC, it reimagines Lord Shiva as a human Tibetan immigrant. Shiva arrives in the near-perfect empire of Meluha, where he is believed to be the "Neelkanth" - a prophesied saviour destined to fight the Chandravanshis and protect the land from the evil Nagas.

When Karan Johar announced plans to adapt The Immortals of Meluha in 2012, speculation suggested the project would be titled Shuddhi and directed by Karan Malhotra. However, it was later clarified that the two projects were unrelated. Around the same time, author Amish Tripathi revealed that a Hollywood producer had also acquired rights for an American adaptation, creating uncertainty around Dharma Productions' involvement. Subsequent reports claimed Karan Malhotra was developing the story into a screenplay with Tripathi serving as creative consultant. Eventually, in May 2017, Dharma reportedly exited the project after its rights agreement expired.
