Akshay Kumar Reunites With Vidya Balan, Anees Bazmee For Comic Caper, Filming Begins On THIS Date - Report

Akshay Kumar has been on a reunion spree with several filmmaker. After reuniting with Subhash Kapoor and Priyadarshan, Akshay is reportedly ready to work with Anees Bazmee again. It is being said that

the director-actor duo will work on an untitled comedy. If the rumours are true, this project marks Akshay's reunion with Anees after 15 years. Their last big screen release was Thank you in 2011. The latest development on their film is that the first day will be shot at Royal Gold Studios on Goregaon. Akshay will reportedly be seen alongside his Bhool Bhulaiyaa co-star Vidya Balan.

Update on Akshay Kumar's upcoming film

As per Mid-Day, Akshay's upcoming movie is rumoured to be a comic caper. "It’s a classic Anees Bazmee comedy with fast-paced scenes, and confusion born from multiple characters and hilarious situations," the source said.

The source further mentioned that the shoot was originally scheduled for February 2026. "While other actors, including leading lady Vidya Balan will join later, the film rolls on January 20 with the superstar," the source added.

Anees Bazmee on Akshay Kumar's box office failures

Earlier, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Anees spoke about Akshay's back-to-back box office failures. Calling him a 'star', the filmmaker mentioned that many of them go through good times and bad times. "It happens. Sometimes their films don’t work, then two films will work and it goes on. He is such a beautiful person. He can dance, do action, he does fantastic comedy, he can cry, he is a complete actor. There can be times when he chose the wrong script, or the wrong people to work with who don’t do justice to his talent. I don’t know the exact reason," he said.

Meanwhile, Akshay has several movies lined up in the pipeline. The actor will be seen in Priyadarshan's Bhooth Bangla. He also has Haiwaan with Saif Ali Khan and Welcome to the Jungle with an ensemble star cast lined up.
