Jaitly's brother, Major (retd.) Vikrant Jaitly has been detained in the UAE since September 2024. The actress had previously told the court that her brother had been illegally detained without any formal information. It was only in June 2025 that Celina learned that her sibling had been moved to the Al-Wathba Detention Centre in Abu Dhabi. Recently, the Delhi HC directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to appoint a legal firm to represent Major Vikrant. And now, the actress has appealed to PM Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention in her brother's detention case.
Celina Jaitly's request to PM Narendra Modi
In an interview with
India Today, Celina revealed that the Delhi High Court's intervention in June 2025 brought some movement in her brother's detention case. While HC had directed that efforts should be made to facilitate phone call between the siblings, but nothing happened.
And while a legal firm might be appointed to represent her brother, the actress said multiple legal firms had earlier demanded millions of dirhams, which she couldn't afford due to personal and financial difficulties. "They said they want to do this for our soldier. They believe in justice beyond borders and dignity," she said.Now, the actress has directly appealed to PM Narendra Modi, seeking his help. "My request to Modiji is to please bring this soldier back. He has given his entire youth to the nation. If he had done something wrong, there would have been a prosecution by now," she added. Celina further mentioned that India's soldier is in a foreign jail without prosecution and wondered why legal aid should be delayed any further.
Celina Jaitly reacts to Delhi HC's order
After the Delhi HC directed MEA to provide legal help for Celina's brother, the actress lauded this move on social media. In a long note that she shared on Instagram, she stated how Delhi High Court upheld a soldier's dignity. She further shared an order passed by Mr Justice Kaurav.
It read, "Let the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, issue appropriate order in favour of M/s Khalid Almarri & Partners Advocates, authorising the said firm to represent Mr. Vikrant Kumar Jaitly for all purposes in Dubai & Abu Dhabi." The actress further revealed she placed her faith in the MEA to take her brother's case forward before the UAE courts and its benevolent leadership.On a concluding note, Celina hoped that she will be able to bring back her brother who gave his entire youth in the service of nation.
