Dharmendra Dies At 89: Amitabh Bachchan Pens Heartfelt Note Remembering Sholay Co-Star, Calls Him 'Epitome Of Greatness'

Dharmendra was one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood. He ruled the cinema for more than six decades making millions of fans. The actor made fans go gaga with his excellent performance in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaanii, leaving them wanting more. On Monday, November 24, Bollywood went numb when Dharmendra passed away. Fans, friends, family, sportsmen, film fraternity mourned the huge loss and called it 'end of an era.' One of the most heartfelt tributes to the veteran actor were paid by his Sholay co-star Amitabh Bachchan.

Bachchan was snapped at the cremation ground on Monday along with son Abhishek Bachchan and grandson Agastya Nanda. Later at night, the actor penned a long note for his 'Veeru' making netizens emotional. Taking to X, Big B wrote, "another valiant Giant has left us .. left the arena .. leaving behind a silence with an unbearable sound .. Dharam ji .. the epitome of greatness, ever linked not only for his renowned physical presence, but for the largeness of his heart , and its most endearing simplicity."

Further, he added, "He brought with him the earthiness of the village in Punjab he came from , and remained true to its temperament .. un soiled throughout his glorious career , in a fraternity that witnessed changes every decade .. .. the fraternity underwent changes .. not him .. his smile, his charm and his warmth , extending to all that came in his vicinity .. a rarity in the profession ..""The air about us swings vacant .. .. a vacuum that shall ever remain vacuus .. .. prayers," concluded the 83-year-old actor.

Dharmendra's Last Film

On the work front, Dharmendra's last film will be Agastya Nanda's Ikkis. The movie gives a stirring glimpse into the extraordinary life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra and is scheduled to release on 25th December 2025.
