Peddi Actors Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor Discuss Normal Upbringing Despite Being Star Kids - Exclusive

Now, Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan and the late Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor are working on Peddi together, a sports drama that is releasing on June 4. Speaking with Times Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, the co-stars revealed that they weren't really aware that they had a famous parent until much later. Both Ram Charan and Janhvi shared that their parents made a concerted effort to keep things normal at home and allow them to just be.

Ram Charan on pressure of coming from a film family

When asked about the advantage of coming from a film family by Navika Kumar for The Newshour, the RRR star stated, "Since I was a kid, I never considered all these elements to be an advantage or disadvantage. I've never looked at it in that light. In fact, ignorance is bliss. I was ignorant of the stardom, the [famous] family, I just did what I wanted to do always. They've never pushed me to do anything."

The actor went on to add that Chiranjeevi never let it come into the house for some reason. He said, "I've seen my dad be so normal and simple. He finishes 18 hours of work and comes home and presses my mom's leg. I've grown up in a very normal scenario. I've never seen my father like [a star] until I see him on TV or step out and see a crowd mob him. He gave us time, he spent his weekends with us. He was a very present father." Janhvi Kapoor was unaware of her mother's stardom The Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari actress revealed that she didn't know about her famous motherSridevi until she was older. She told Navika Kumar, "I was criminally unaware about everything that she had achieved and done. Also because she was also such an inherently shy person. She started working from the age of four so by the time she made the decision to commit herself to a domestic life, she wanted it to be a very complete transition. This was an aspect of Mom I looked up to."

Janhvi continued, "She herself I think somewhere forgot, erased or put that chapter of her professional life behind her and concentrated solely on her duties as a mother and a wife. So that's what I was exposed to really. Until we came of age and she decided that I can dabble back into my artistic passions and creative needs. Which is when I sort of understood what the euphoria of her meant." Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani. Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan has a special appearance in the song Hellallallo.
