the success of Karuppu, the makers have announced an important change in the film. The Suriya and Trisha Krishnan film included a pun directed at Ilaiyaraaja. Issuing a statement, Dream Warrior Pictures confirmed that the particular scene will be removed from the film. The makers further clarified that the joke wasn’t meant to hurt the veteran music personality’s sentiments. Apologising for unintentionally disrespecting Ilaiyaraaja, Karuppu’s team assured that the revision would be made soon. Karuppu is directed by RJ Balaji and released in theatres on May 15 after a day’s delay due to financial reasons.

As a measure to correct and control the damage, the makers confirmed that efforts to remove and modify the concerned portion in future versions and subsequent exploitations of the film are being made. The dialogue that sparked controversy is contextual. One of the characters says it with reference to Jesus Christ.
