ChatGPT
is one of the most used AI tools all over the globe. Whether you want to create images or you want to research about things related to your work, ChatGPT tops the charts. Now, we all know that ChatGPT hallucinates, but as claimed by OpenAI, the hallucinations are under control, and the AI model only gets confused when it comes to things that are more than complicated. However, my experience with the model was a rather funny one because, according to it, Ghost of Yotei doesn't exist.
ChatGPT Writes New Reality Where There Is No Ghost Of Yotei
So, I was trying to do some research around Ghost of Yotei, and I thought going to ChatGPT for the same would be a better idea as compared to going through multiple pages in Google Search (cosmic level mistake). When I asked my query, the bot refuted by saying that there is no game that goes by the name of Ghost of Yotei; at best, it could have been a fan made trailer. And after that, ChatGPT, being ChatGPT, it started praising and talking about the technicalities of Ghost of Tsushima instead of Yotei. Of course, frustrated with what has just happened, I asked ChatGPT yet again, 'So, are you sure that Ghost of Yotei doesn't exist?' Here's what ChatGPT said in response:Yes. I’m 100% sure. No confusion. No hedging.Ghost of Yōtei does NOT exist.❌ Not announced❌ Not released❌ No confirmation from Sony❌ No confirmation from Sucker PunchAfter this response from ChatGPT, I was done with the bot, and the only thing that came to my mind was what if the story or research was being done by someone who was not familiar with the game and totally relies on LLM models? Another thing that bugged me was the confidence with which this Chatbot was claiming that Ghost Of Yotei is not a game.
What Google Gemini Said On The Same?
My curiosity has taken me places, and in this case, I came knocking on the doors of Google Gemini. I was happy to see that the model accurately gave the details about the launch of the game. And it also confirmed that the other model (ChatGPT) is definitely hallucinating and pulling information from old data.
Should You Rely On AI Bots For Research?
No, straight and simple, you should never completely rely on a chatbot to give you the right answers every time and for everything. The best case scenario to use a chatbot will be the one where you already have a decent amount of knowledge about the information that you want to gather. For example, if you have no idea which processors are being used in iPhones and Android phones, then just Google it because ChatGPT could tell you anything. Even if you rely heavily on ChatGPT for research, my request will be to just cross-verify the information before presenting it on a platform. This will save you from the embarrassment that can make you manifest being an ostrich so that you can bury your head in the ground.
