Greg Brockman, the President and Co-founder of OpenAI, highlighted how artificial intelligence is changing the global economy, describing an intentional move towards what the tech mogul described as a ‘comput-powered’ era. In a social media post on X on Monday, the OpenAI President asserted that computers are not just machines with instructions anymore. Rather, they have become capable of understanding and executing complex tasks on their own, allowing users to focus more on results than the process itself. “Software Engineering Is Not The Same Anymore”Brockman noted that software development has changed drastically. The AI development has accelerated engineering workflows in recent months, allowing developers to build more efficiently. He stated
that this transformation will not be limited to coding. Moreover, it is likely to extend across all forms of computer-based work. “Using a computer has always been about contorting yourself to the machine. You take a goal and break it down into smaller goals. You translate intent into instructions. We are moving into a world where you no longer have to micromanage the computer. More and more, it adapts to what you want. Rather than doing work with a computer, the computer does work for you. The rate, scale, and sophistication of problem solving it will do for you will be bound by the amount of compute you have access to,” wrote Brockman.
