BTS RM's HYBE Remark: Ex-BigHit Director's Reaction Angers Internet, ARMYs Draw Connection With Min Hee-Jin

BTS member RM had recently expressed disappointment with their agency HYBE, hoping that the company would "take care" of the OT7 better. His candid confession happened during the band's latest Weverse live which the seven members did ahead of Christmas and New Year. RM hinted that HYBE was not giving BTS the amount of support it deserved. Though RM's words reflected an emotional bout, it triggered an online anger towards the company. Many claimed HYBE's internal conflicts and issues was affecting BTS that's currently gearing up for its big comeback with a new album and a world tour in 2026. In the live held on December 21, RM said, "I wish our company would care of us more. I don't usually say things like this. I wish they would look out for us."

Netizens soon posted reactions over RM's statement. A fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "It's tough hearing that, but it also shows how much they care about their art and legacy. Hoping for a resolution where the artistry and the artists are truly prioritized." Another fan wrote, "The other side has more responsibility passed on them and particularly on him as the leader, all that can be overwhelming sometimes. That's what he ment when he asked more help from BH. You know what's funny? That the only one who need to put snakejin in the middle is you tokkies."

Soon after, a former BigHit Music director, Elly Chae wrote a long message online on Monday, with regard to RM's remarks.

For an artist to make such a bold statement suggests a massive internal problem. If the members had chosen to enlist individually rather than together, the enlistment period and post-discharge schedule would have already been established, with some of it already underway. The company probably hoped all seven would enlist simultaneously, but an agreement wasn’t reached. At a time when everyone should be actively promoting and building up to a world tour right after their military discharge…the ongoing issues with NJZ (NewJeans) and CEO Min, the ongoing prosecution into Bang’s IPO, and the ongoing marketing and promotion of new groups like CORTIS…as multiple incidents are occurring, BTS must’ve felt like they were constantly being pushed back. Given the nature of the company, it cannot properly function without the confirmation of the chairman, regardless of the organization’s size. From the company’s perspective, the original seven members, who are the foundation of the company, still need to generate revenue. Still, as far as I know, many employees who were performing their jobs properly have quit, leaving only executives who are involved in politics, so I’m not sure about all this."

Elly's words left the internet divided, with many calling it her personal grudge against HYBE. An ARMY wrote on X, "elly chae was fired way back in 2017 for her incompetence, latched onto mhj and is now slowly losing her sanity i know she's crying every night over the lost stocks" Another one said, "Reminder Elly Chae is a credit grabber and she saying she's the one made BTS entered in western market which is not true at all.
