Hrithik
Roshan may have built his career playing charismatic heroes, action stars and larger-than-life protagonists, but it seems the actor is now eager to explore a different side of his personality on screen. In a candid social media post, Hrithik admitted that he is no longer looking for conventional 'good guy' roles and revealed the kind of character he would love to play next. Interestingly, the role comes from one of Farhan Akhtar's most acclaimed films and happens to be a character Hrithik Roshan himself portrayed years ago. Read on to know more.
Hrithik Reveals His Dream Role
The actor recently took to social media and shared a surprisingly honest thought about the type of characters he wants to portray. "Just got asked what's the kind of role I'm looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me. Remember Zaffar from
Luck By Chance? That's the one. wrote Hrithik, claiming he would jump at that kind of an opportunity. Clearly not satisfied with the roles he is getting offered, the actor added, "But directors only wanna see me play the good guy." He called this 'sad.'Take a look:
Hrithik's choice is particularly interesting because Zaffar Khan is one of the most memorable cameos of his career, even though it was an extended cameo. In Farhan Akhtar's 2009 film
Luck By Chance, Hrithik played Zaffar, a wildly successful Bollywood superstar whose arrogance overshadowed his talent. The character was self-absorbed, entitled and convinced that the industry revolved around him. At one point, Zaffar abruptly walks out of a major project, creating chaos for the film's producers and leaving them scrambling to salvage the production. His latest comments suggest he may be eager to revisit similar territory.
Is This A Subtle Don 3 Hint?
Hrithik's comments about only getting to play good guys and then talking about a Farhan Akhtar film feels like a sign that he should be the next
Don.Ever since reports emerged that Ranveer Singh had walked away from the highly anticipated project, rumours have repeatedly linked Hrithik Roshan to the iconic franchise. The speculation intensified because Hrithik and Farhan are childhood friends and the actor even made a memorable appearance in
Don 2 back in 2011.
However, the actor has previously dismissed the rumours. "What started off as just a rumour has now taken a life of its own, and it's important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for
Don 3 at any given time. I request the media to steer clear of any such unverified reports," Hrithik had stated. While his latest social media post is most definitely not a direct pitch for
Don 3, it certainly indicates that he is interested in characters with more complexity, flaws and unpredictability and what better than Don?On the professional front, he is currently working on
Krrish 4, a project that carries enormous expectations from fans. Besides reprising his role as the beloved superhero, Hrithik will also step behind the camera for the first time and make his directorial debut with the film.
