After the film's trailer was unveiled, a section of social media criticised the VFX work in Riteish's historical drama. Now, Abhishek Bachchan has come out in support of his co-star. The actor, who plays Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale in the film, stated that VFX is a fine art, but also a rain card. In his opinion, the more time one gives it, the better it looks.

Speaking to News18, Abhishek reacted to mixed response to VFX used in
Raja Shivaji. The more money you can pile into your VFX, the better the quality," he said. The actor feels people understand to understand that Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh made the film within a very tight budget.
The Raja Shivaji actor added that studios don't give a thousand crore to make this film because the market is such. However, if a film that has budget of Rs 1,000 crore for VFX compared to a movie that has a smaller budget will look different. Abhishek mentioned that everyone loves to judge, but they need to understand how system works.Abhishek also stated that to compare VFX of an Indian film to the West is futile. The actor mentioned that people in Hollywood have budgets. To give a scale to a fil, they end up spending Rs 5,000 crore just on VFX. According to him, Indian film industry can't compete with because it isn't the market for the industry.
Continuing his take on this topic, Abhishek stated, "We probably work here at one percent of that at best for our VFX. It’s all about how much money you can put in." He recalled that Riteish had to take call how much time he could give it. According to him, it would've been a long road for Riteish if he had the liberty to spend a thousand crore on VFX.
