The
house firing case involving filmmaker Rohit Shetty is moving forward. On April 30, an extensive 1,624-page chargesheet was officially submitted by the Mumbai Police to a special MCOCA court with regard to the incident that happened outside the residence of the Golmaal director earlier this year. On January 31, unknown assailants fired four rounds of bullets outside his Juhu residence in the evening. A team of police reached the spot immediately and initiated an investigation, leading to the deployment of heavy police security around his residential tower. Though no injuries were reported, police registered a case of attempted murder and seized ballistics evidence.

The legal document reportedly mentions the names of 17 individuals, identifying key figures associated with the
Lawrence Bishnoi gang as the masterminds behind the attack. The case has been registered under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA)According to investigators, at least five shots were fired toward the first floor of the nine-storey structure of Rohit Shetty's residence. One of the bullets reportedly struck the glass of a gym located inside the premises. The attack raised serious security concerns.
Arrests and accused
Out of the 17 accused, 15 have been taken into custody so far. Two individuals named Shubham Lonkar and Arzoo Bishnoi have been listed as absconding. Authorities have linked them to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and they allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing through social media.Those arrested include Deepak Sharma, Ritik Yadav, Sunny Thakur, Sonu, Jatin Bharadwaj, Vishal Thakur, Vishnu Kushwah, Aditya Gayaki, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji, Swapnil Sakat, and Asaram Fasale, among others.Officials noted that most of the accused are between 20 and 25 years old. Some of them were known to each other, though they reportedly had no direct contact with gang members arrested in Pune. Kushwah is also said to be related to the main shooter.Lonkar is also wanted in other high-profile cases, including the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique and the shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence.

Investigations suggest that the accused acted under Lonkar’s instructions. Before carrying out the attack, they reportedly conducted surveillance of the Shetty's residence on three separate occasions. On the night of the incident, some of the accused consumed alcohol nearby before the shooter proceeded with the plan.
Group's activities after incident
The alleged gunman, Deepak Sharma, along with three accomplices, reached Juhu to execute the attack. After firing, they escaped in an autorickshaw to Kalyan in Thane district.Following the incident, the group gathered at a co-accused’s residence in Kalyan, which served as a temporary meeting point due to one member’s familiarity with the area. From there, they fled to northern India by train.Police later tracked them to a hideout in Haryana, where they had been given shelter by another accused, Ritik Yadav, who has since been arrested.
