Fans lovingly call him King Khan, and the world knows him as the Badshah of Bollywood and the King of Romance. But there’s another title Shah Rukh Khan has rightfully earned, the King of Wit! The superstar
isn’t just ageing like fine wine; his humour and quick wit are only getting sharper with time. Whether it’s gracefully shutting down trolls or leaving journalists speechless with clever replies to bizarre questions, SRK does it effortlessly. And, it takes him only a few seconds to prove that he truly is the undisputed king of comebacks. On Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, here’s a look back at some of his wittiest and most iconic comebacks ever!
- During a recent ASK SRK session on X, a troll tweeted, "Brother, let me tell you, you have no talent in you . Nor your face is good-looking, then how did you become a star? My face is better than yours yet no one even recognises me."SRK, of course, wasn't going to let that side. His savage reply read, "Brother, the looks are fine... you didn't say anything about the brains!!! Does you have any or....???"
- A hater once age-shamed SRK online and wrote, "Bhai ab Umar hogyi retirement lelo dusre bache logo ko aage aane do (You’ve grown old now, consider retiring so that the new kids can move forward)."SRK once again proved he's the wittiest of all stars and responded: "Bhai Tere sawaalon ka bachpana jab chala jaaye... Phir kuch acchha saa puchna! Tab tak temporary retirement mein reh please (Brother, when your childish questions are over, then ask something worthwhile! Until then, consider taking a temporary retirement yourself)."
- Not just mean comments — SRK also knows how to handle disgusting and downright vile remarks with class. In an interview, when a journalist read out a hate comment where someone called him a "c***ka." Did SRK lose his cool? No. He just quipped, "Main itna bada ho chuka hun ki chakka ho hi nahi sakta (I’ve become so big that I can’t be a four anymore)."
- King Khan was once asked if he's bisexual. His reply was simply unmissable. "That’s rubbish. I don’t do men, I don’t do women. I’m happily in love with my wife. Hey, I like that line from Sex and the City 'I’m try-s*xual. I try anything that’s s*xual. Okay, I’m try-s*xual."
- A user age-shamed him on X and wrote, "Sir, jawan hone ki ek umar hoti hai par aapki umer to bahut jada ho gai hai (Sir, there is an age to be young but your age is a bit too much)." SRK, obviously, had an epic reply. It read, "Accha kiya yaad dila diya.... ek aur yaad rakhna... bewakoof hone ki koi umar nahi hoti....ha ha ( Good that you reminded me... Always remember... There is no age to be foolish. Haha)."
- "Due to your highly effective and efficient PR team last two ta**i movies of your became a blockbuster.. do you still hv faith in ur PR and marketing team that #Dhunki will also bcm a hit and will be a another golden ta**i from #Bollywood," read a tweet that left SRKians fuming. But the King himself responded with his signature grace. He wrote back, "Normally I don’t answer amazingly intelligent people like you. But in your case, I am making an exception because I feel you need to be treated for constipation. Will tell my PR team to send you some golden medicines…hope u recover soon."
- During a press conference, a journalist named Lipika accidentally addressed Shah Rukh Khan as Salman. This was when the two Khans weren’t exactly on friendly terms. SRK, unfazed as ever, handled it with charm and humour. He kept calling her Deepika for the rest of the interaction. His quick wit had everyone in the room bursting into laughter.
- "Is SRK the best actor in the country? Karan Johar asked King Khan on the Koffee With Karan couch. He simply replied, "In the world."
