Vikrant Massey, who is now an established actor in Hindi cinema, has recently shared his strong views on the importance of caste in the modern generation. The actor, who kept a religion column ‘blank’ in his son, Vardaan’s birth certificate, has exclusively told Times Now’s Group Editor-In-Chief, Navika Kumar, that unfortunately the caste does matter in the modern generation; however, he is an exception to it. During Times Now's 20th Anniversary Special Broadcast, the Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan actor called himself privileged and said that people should become humans first before recognising themselves on the basis of their caste and religions.
Vikrant Massey On Caste’s Importance In Modern Generation
When asked if the caste does matter in the so-called modern generation, Vikrant Massey said, ‘yes’. When further asked if the society is still stuck in the time conundrum, the Sector 36 actor strongly voiced his opinion about the same. Vikrant said, “Largely, if we are talking about India, unfortunately yes, we still are. But I am one of those 1 per cent privileged people of this country who recognise that privilege. Pehle insaan toh sahi ban jao yaar (At least become a good human first).”

Vikrant Massey confessed that he kept the religion column in his son’s birth certificate blank because the Indian government has given him that option. The actor utilised it. The National Award-winning actor comes from a multicultural family. While explaining about the same, the actor said that he doesn’t want his son to be exposed to the dark side of it. Vikrant Massey considers himself non-religious. His mother is a Sikh, and his father is Christian. His brother converted to Islam. Vikrant married his long-time actress girlfriend, Sheetal Thakur, who is a Hindu by birth.
