During the Filmfare OTT Awards 2025 press conference event in Mumbai city, Sanya Malhotra expressed her excitement on receiving the Filmfare award for her 2023 crime-comedy Netflix original film Kathal. She said, "My sister was getting married that year and I could not come and receive it but I got to know it when I was in a car and on my way to finalise the venue. I remember being so happy, I had completely lost my mind. Filmfare is such a big deal for an actor. I have grown up watching these on television and I have dreamt of becoming an actor. I grew up watching these award shows as a kid. I used to feel like
ek din mai bhi karungi, mai bhi stage par jaungi, mughe bhi award milega."
