Widely regarded as Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan (Jana Neta in Hindi) has been one of the most keenly awaited films in Indian cinema, with fans tracking every update since its announcement.
The makers, KVN Productions, have now officially confirmed that the film’s release has been postponed. Originally slated to hit theatres on January 9, 2026, the release has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Trade Analyst Makes Shocking Claims About Jana Nayagan
A trade analyst revealed to India Today that due to the delay in the release of Thalapathy Vijay's
Jana Nayagan, theatres are facing huge losses worth crores. Explaining it all, Ramesh Bala shared how Pongal was supposed to witness the clash of Vijay's
Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan's
Parasakthi and however, the film's release was stalled. "Vijay's film could easily have made Rs 150-200 crore in Tamil Nadu alone,
Parasakthi made Rs 55 crore in Tamil Nadu," he said.
The critic also mentioned that Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar was a ‘complete washout’ while Jiiva’s Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil made about Rs 30 crore. "Since there is no projected revenue, the Tamil Nadu box office could have lost almost Rs 100 crore because of
Jana Nayagan's delay," Bala added.
