Entertainment has issued a firm and detailed statement addressing the growing issue of defamation and malicious online activity targeting Stray Kids. On December 27 KST, the agency provided an update on the legal actions being taken against individuals who have spread false information, defamatory remarks, and harmful content about the group. The announcement underscored JYP’s zero-tolerance stance and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights, reputation, and well-being of Stray Kids, both in South Korea and internationally.
JYP pursues legal routes to protect Stray Kids
In its official notice titled
“Notice on the Status of Legal Action Regarding Infringement of Artist Rights,” JYP Entertainment made it clear that the company has been actively pursuing legal measures for some time. The agency stated, “As previously announced on multiple occasions, our company is pursuing firm legal measures to protect the rights and interests of our artist,
Stray Kids, against actions that infringe upon their fundamental rights, including the dissemination of false information and malicious defamation.”JYP further revealed that it has implemented a systematic monitoring process to track harmful content across various platforms. “Furthermore, through a professional monitoring agency, we are continuously and systematically collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments such as the spread of false information, defamatory content, malicious slander, and ridicule targeting our artists across domestic and international online communities and social media platforms,” the statement read. Based on this collected evidence, the company confirmed that it has been filing both criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against those responsible.
Strict action against accused
Providing a significant update on the progress of these cases, JYP shared that authorities have already begun taking action. “Recently, investigative authorities have obtained warrants and are currently conducting investigations after identifying the accused parties,” the agency stated. It also highlighted ongoing cooperation beyond South Korea, adding, “In addition, we are working in cooperation with domestic and international courts to verify the identities of defendants who have posted malicious content on overseas platforms.”Stressing on the seriousness of its approach, JYP made it clear that it would not show leniency. “We will continue to cooperate closely with investigative authorities and judicial bodies and will pursue these matters to the fullest extent to ensure that the perpetrators receive strict legal punishment. No leniency or settlements will be considered in this process,” the notice stressed.The agency also expressed gratitude to Stray Kids’ fandom, STAY, for their ongoing support. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to STAY for the continued support and concern shown toward Stray Kids,” JYP said, encouraging fans to assist by submitting evidence of illegal activity via the provided email address.
