Thalapathy Vijay stepped out of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters on January 19 after nearly six hours of questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case. As he exited the premises amid heavy security, Vijay briefly acknowledged the large number of fans who had gathered outside, waving to them from inside his car. What was also caught on camera was Thalapathy Vijay ignoring a reporter's question on the Karur stampede case. Videos of the moment have since surfaced on social media, showing the actor surrounded by his team and security personnel as supporters cheered from a distance.

In a video posted by ANI on X (Formerly known as Twitter), Thalapathy fans who had been waiting for hours outside the CBI office, expressed happiness at catching a glimpse of the star, especially at a time when he is gradually stepping away from films to focus entirely on his political journey. He also responded to the praise by waving at fans and greeting them from inside his vehicle.Another moment which caught everyone's attention was the actor ignoring reporter's question. A reporter asks, "A shot if you could speak Sir, about the interrogation. You are leaving CBI Office Sir." What led to Vijay's appearance before CBI?
Vijay’s appearance before the CBI is linked to the tragic stampede that occurred on September 27, 2025, in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district during one of his political rallies. The incident claimed the lives of 41 people and left over 60 others injured, triggering widespread outrage and calls for accountability. As part of the investigation, the CBI has already questioned several TVK office bearers, Vijay’s personal driver, and multiple police officials involved in managing security during the event.
The actor had earlier appeared before the central agency on January 12, when he was questioned for more than six hours. He was initially asked to return the following day but requested a later date due to Pongal celebrations. The agency agreed, leading to the second round of questioning on January 19.
Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan release in trouble
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay is also dealing with another major issue, the controversy surrounding his last film,
Jana Nayagan. The film was scheduled for release on January 9, but its release was stalled after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) declined to grant clearance. The matter was first taken to the Madras High Court and later escalated to the Supreme Court.On January 15, the Supreme Court heard the producers’ appeal but refused to grant interim relief, dealing a setback to the makers. The case has now been sent back to the Madras High Court and is set to be heard again on January 20.
