April 8, Allu Arjun’s 44th birthday, the makers of his highly anticipated film unveiled the title and first-look poster of Raaka, marking his collaboration with director Atlee and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. The striking poster features Arjun in a bald, clawed avatar, and the title was simultaneously released in multiple languages. Fans are not only intrigued by the intense look but also by the cinematic connections of the title. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is made on a huge budget, and is expected to be high on VFX.

Raaka, the title was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Arabic, giving it pan-Indian and global appeal. The title Raaka holds a unique connection to Arjun’s family and cinematic history. His uncle, Megastar Chiranjeevi, starred in a 1984 Telugu-language action crime drama originally titled Devanthakudu, which was later dubbed in Hindi as Raaka. Directed by SA Chandrasekhar, Thalapathy Vijay’s father, the film also starred Vijayashanti and was a remake of Chandrasekhar’s 1983 Kannada film Geluvu Nannade. Released on April 12, 1984, it was a commercial success.
The connection to Thalapathy Vijay goes further, with Atlee’s longstanding admiration for the Tamil superstar. The director often describes Vijay as a mentor and a support in his career, they have previously worked on blockbuster films such as Theri, Mersal, and Bigil.

Typically, details of big-budget films leak online well before official announcements. In the case of Raaka, however, the team successfully kept everything under wraps—no footage, looks, or title information surfaced beforehand. While social media buzzed with rumours suggesting titles like Wildfire, Legacy, Ayan, and Spark, the makers surprised fans by officially revealing the title as Raaka, ending all speculation.
Raaka is shaping up to be a grand-scale science fiction entertainer. Reports suggest a reincarnation concept with Arjun potentially playing multiple roles. Reports say that the film's ambitious visual effects and world-building, has intentions to rival global productions like Avatar. The project is being tightly guarded, with only Arjun and Atlee aware of the title before the reveal. Despite reports of other possible cast members including Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bhagyashri Borse, only Deepika Padukone has been officially confirmed so far. Yogi Babu also plays a key role in the film.Raaka is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the next year, with a release possibly slated for summer 2027.
