Arijit Singh, one of Bollywood’s most loved playback singers, recently announced his retirement from playback singing. While he clarified that he is not quitting music altogether, the singer said he will no longer take up playback singing assignments. The announcement was met with an overwhelming response, with fans pleading for more soulful tracks, colleagues extending their support, and rumour mills going into overdrive. A section of the internet and several Reddit threads speculated whether the"toxic" culture in music studios and the overuse of Arijit’s voice had prompted the decision. However, when asked about the rumours, singer Armaan Malik dismissed them. He stated that it was entirely Arijit’s personal choice.Arijit Singh Quit Playback
Singing Due To 'Toxic' Studio Culture?"Every industry has a dark side to it. And obviously, the music industry is no stranger to that," Armaan exclusively told Zoom before adding that he has personally not faced anything toxic in his career.Talking about Arijit's retirement, he said, "I think as another singer in the industry, I can't comment on why Ariji took that step because I also know him as a brother. We've met multiple times at Amal's recording studio because he's recorded a bunch of songs for my brother as well. And I've been part of those recording sessions. So I would definitely say it's not because of any toxic studio culture. I don't think I've ever had a toxic studio experience in my careet at least. But obviously I cannot say why he may have taken a decision like he did, because that's his personal choice."
