The petition filed by Major Sharma’s parents lists several reasons for their objection.

• The family believes the film mirrors important events from Major Sharma’s life, including covert operations and counter terror missions in Kashmir.
• They say the makers never reached out to seek approval or clarification before using elements that resemble the officer’s real story.
• The parents argue that a martyr’s life is not a commercial product and cannot be recreated without dignity, accuracy and consent.
• They have claimed violation of Major Sharma’s posthumous personality rights under Article 21, which protects dignity even after death.
• They also say the film affects their right to privacy, as it indirectly brings their personal life into public discussion without permission.
• The petition raises concerns about national security, stating that the movie seems to show sensitive Army strategies and infiltration methods without clearance.
• According to them, there is no sign that the script was reviewed by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, which oversees how the Indian Army is portrayed in films.
• The family feels that online discussions and media reports have already linked Dhurandhar to Major Sharma, but the makers continue to deny any connection.

The petition has been filed against multiple parties including the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the CBFC, the ADGPI, director Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios. The family has requested a stay on the release and a private screening before the film reaches audiences.
