According to Pinkvilla’s report, Oh My God 3 is currently in the pre-production phase and is expected to go on floors by mid-2026. Director Amit Rai, who also helmed OMG 2, has reportedly cracked a story that surpasses the earlier instalments in scope, relevance, and emotional impact. A source revealed Amit has developed a script that is bigger, more relevant, and hard-hitting. Akshay, who has been associated with the franchise since the first film, was clear that the third part has to be scaled up.

Oh My God (OMG) released in 2012. Paresh Rawal and Akshay headlined the satirical comedy based on the Gujarati play Kanji Virrudh Kanji. It was critically acclaimed and a box office success. The film is about Kanji Lalji Mehta, a middle-class antiques shop owner in Mumbai. An atheist, he challenges God after an earthquake destroys his workplace. It is the only shop in the area to be affected. When no lawyer agrees to fight a case against religious leaders and spiritual gurus, Kanji stands up for himself. He finds a friend in a mysterious man, who guides him through the case. The man is none other than Lord Krishna.

A standalone film, titled Oh My God 2, starring Akshay with Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, released in 2023. It is about Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a Shiva devotee, who moves his son’s school to court for omitting sex education. His son is accused of promoting obscenity. As he fights the case, Lord Shiva backs him. Further details about Oh My Goddess are not disclosed. Staying true to the franchise’s core, it will be a socio-drama around an important subject.
