Other than choosing the DND preference, the app will also help users to report spam and SMS directly. The government stated that the app can also be used to file complaints within seconds, and users can also check the status of their ongoing complaints in real time. This will eventually add a layer of transparency for users, suggests TRAI.

TRAI Notes Over 1.84 Lakh Telecom Connections DisconnectedTRAI has highlighted that the app has been positioned as a secure tool to ensure communications, aligning with the consent of users. Moreover, the body took strict action against the violators according to the communication rules. In 2025, the body said it disconnected 1,84,482 telecom connections, which were linked to the unregistered telemarketers (UTMs), involved in sending unsolicited commercial messages. While the app can restrict promotional messages, it will ensure essential service-related communications without any disruptions, the government highlights. To download the TRAI DND app, users can simply go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, as per their available devices.
