Padayappa released in 1999. The film revolves around Padayappa's family. They’re humiliated by an uncle and forced to leave their home. After working hard, he restores his family's honour, but old enmities and a jealous woman continue to stir up problems. It also starred Sivaji Ganesan and Ramya Krishnan.After 25 years, Rajinikanth recently confirmed that the sequel is in the making. Neelambari: Padayappa 2, Thalaiva said that the team is currently working on the story. He further promised an exciting follow-up to the characters in the sequel.
