member Jungkook has apologised for his recent Weverse live, which he did while being drunk, where his confessions and comments blew up the internet. From swearing in a joking way to showing an indecent gesture to his friend and even discussing his past smoking habit, Jungkook spoke a lot, which many feared might land the Golden Maknae in trouble. JK interacted with his fans over drinks with two other friends, and got candid in a way nobody saw coming. The 28-year-old has no expressed resentment over things he said, though he believes he did not say anything wrong.
Jungkook apologises for his previous live
On April 8, BTS released the music video for
Hooligan. On the sides, Jungkook interacted with fans through the fan communication platform Weverse. While directly speaking with fans, he even addressed the recent controversy. He offered an apology for his February live stream, which drew criticism after he appeared intoxicated and used profanity, confessing several things about the band's label HYBE, and expressing idol frustration and pressure.The 88-minute "unfiltered" Weverse live broadcast was later removed from the platform. The removal was anticipated by Jungkook himself during the stream, suggesting it was likely his decision to avoid further media misinterpretation.
Jungkook's apology to fans
"I wanted to apologise to ARMY about the recent live," Jungkook said. He, however, stated he wasn't sure what he did wrong. "I’m not sure if I did something seriously wrong, but since I hadn’t shown that side of myself before, I thought it might have made some fans uncomfortable," he added."If any ARMY felt uncomfortable, I’m sorry. I’ll be more mindful. I think I was just in a really good mood that day," Jungkook expressed.
Jungkook does not believe he did wrong
Further explaining his honest stance on the entire issue, he said, "Personally, I don’t think it was a major wrongdoing. It’s something people in this field often do." According to him, he thought of apologising for the sake of his fans who may have felt uncomfortable, rather than because he believed his actions were inappropriate. "Those who know how I feel about ARMY will understand. I’ve always been genuine, and I want to do well because of you," Jungkook claimed. "I can’t say I’m a perfect or completely righteous person, but I’ll try to accept feedback if something crosses a line."
ARMYs refuse his apology
ARMY rallied in his favour after the apology. Many took to X (formerly Twitter), and expressed support. One user wrote, "You don't need to apologise jk...there's nothing wrong in expressing smh you feel about."
