Farah Khan, making Om Shanti Om wasn’t easy. The choreographer-turned-director was attempting to conceive through an in vitro procedure while directing Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the reincarnation drama. On Sania Mirza’s Serving It Up with Sania podcast, she opened up about failed IVF attempts that broke her emotionally.

Farah discussed failed IVF attempts on the podcast and said, “I failed twice in IVF. I used to just be crying and crying. It’s also because of the hormones that are pumped in. I used to cry at the drop of a hat. She said, “Pehle toh main bolungi late pregnancy kyuki meri shaadi hi late hui. I was 40 years old when I got married. Toh waise bhi pregnancy late hi honi thi.” (Translation: Firstly, I will say late pregnancy because my marriage got delayed. I was 40 years old when I got married. So anyway, the pregnancy was bound to be late.) The filmmaker added, “Uske baad ek-do saal hum log ne naturally try kiya kyuki hum ek gynaecologist ke paas gaye the and I said ki I am old toh… unhone kaha, ‘Nahi try naturally’, toh naturally nahi ho raha tha." (Translation: After a year or two we tried naturally because we went to a gynaecologist and I said I am too old. He said, ‘Don’t try naturally’, it was not happening naturally.)

Farah tied the knot with Shirish Kunder in 2004. They had triplets, son Czar and daughters Diva and Anya, on February 11, 2008, via in vitro procedure.
