Indian OTT has adored Srikant Tiwari, a fictional spy played by Manoj Bajpayee in the popular series The Family Man. After two successful seasons, the Raj & DK spy thriller is returning with the third
instalment this Friday (November 21). The climax of the second season laid the foundation for the upcoming part. The Family Man 2 released in 2021. Ahead of the latest season, here’s a quick recap of the events that unfolded four years ago and how they could influence the plot of The Family Man 3. Spoilers Ahead
Conflict
Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) has taken a backseat from his risky intelligence officer job at the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC). After the events of The Family Man (2019), he chooses to prioritise his family life and joins an IT company for a 9-to-5 job. At TASC, JK Talpade (Sharib Hashmi) is responsible for handling political unrest in Sri Lanka. Srikant is feeling out of place at his new job and misses the life he had at TASC. Out of frustration, he quits his 9-to-5 job to return to his spy world as Raji (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), a soldier who suffered in the Sri Lankan civil war, enters as the nemesis. Teaming up with Raji, ISI’s Major Sameer (Darshan Kumaar) plans another major terrorist attack in India. Since the first season, his personal agenda behind plotting against the country remains a mystery.
Personal life crisis
On the other hand, Srikant and Suchi’s (Priyamani) daughter, Dhriti (Ashlesha Thakur), matures after a traumatic incident. She falls in love with Salman (Abhay Verma), who disguises himself as Kalyan. Dhriti is kidnapped and also learns about her father’s high-stakes job. Atharv (Vedant Sinha) is unaware of what his father does. Srikant averts the assassination of the Indian Prime Minister and rescues Dhriti, too. During the mission, Srikant loses his colleague Milind (Sunny Hinduja), turning Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) bitter towards him. Raji is killed in an air crash, but Major Sameer escapes death.
Climax
While Srikant fulfils his duties as an intelligence officer and father, his marital life with Suchi hits a rough patch. The mystery behind what happened between her and Arvind (Sharad Kelkar) in Lonavala is yet to be unfolded.
The Family Man 2 ends with Srikant and Suchi spending some quality time together over post-dinner coffee. Suchi gets emotional and just when she is about to make an important confession, the screen cuts to black.
The Family Man Season 3
As the end credits are about to roll, the foundation for the third season is laid down. Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Chinese project called Guan Yu, is being developed. The Family Man Season 3 is written by Raj, DK, and Suman Kumar. The series features dialogues by Sumit Arora. Raj and DK have directed the latest season along with Suman Kumar and Tusshar Seyth. The third season of the Prime Video show also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Nimrat Kaur, Seema Biswas, Vipin Sharma, Gul Panag, Dalip Tahil, Jugal Hansraj, and Aditya Srivastava.
