Mardaani 3, starring Rani Mukerji and Mallika Prasad, has released today (January 30). Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film relies heavily on the performances by the lead actors. The trailer of the crime
thriller revealed Mallika as the diabolical Amma, who abducts pre-pubertal-aged girls for a life-threatening purpose. But, there is a twist. Amma isn’t the person engaging in the actual crime of killing the girls. She has a companion, who is mainly responsible for the deaths. Instead of one, there are two antagonists in Mardaani 3, and they give Rani’s Shivani Shivaji Roy a tough run.
Who is the real antagonist in Mardaani 3?
Not Amma, the person, who is behind the deaths of young girls, is Ramanujan. Played by Prajesh Kashyap, he is disguised as an NGO founder working towards supporting children and a ‘victim’ of
Amma’s evil deeds. It is revealed in the second half that Ramanujan was brought to Amma when he was young and his feistiness brought them closer. He looks upto her as his mother and she calls him ‘Nawabzaade’ (Prince).
Who is Ramanujan?
Ramanujan has returned from the US and is experimenting with a vaccine. He tests it on underprivileged children. Each body responds to it differently. Some test positive for Stage 4 cancer and their lives are lost. Others respond well to it and face no consequence. With Amma’s help, Ramanujan uses those kidnapped children as guinea pigs. In one scene, he tells an international delegation that dogs are treated better globally than the poor in India. Their lives are ‘cheap’. Eventually, Shivani busts the crime racket and saves the young girls. Ramanujan gets his punishment and Amma meets her destiny.
