Ahead of Oscars 2026 nominations announcement, it has now come out that Ryan Coogler's Sinners, starring Mickael B. Jordan is the MOST nominated film on the 98-year history of the Academy Awards. With
this, it has now surpassed Titanic (1997), La La Land (2016) and All About Eve (1950). Sinners will be competing with Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams. Sinners has bagged a total of 16 nominations ahead of Academy Awards 2026. The film is set in 1932 in the Mississippi Delta and stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as criminal twin brothers who return to their hometown in the Jim Crow South, where they are confronted by a supernatural evil. It is nominated for awards including
best picture, director, leading actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, the Academy’s inaugural casting prize and many more.With this feat, it has surpassed
Titanic, All About Eve and La La Land, which previously held the record with 14 nominations, each. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and distributed under the big banners of Warner Bros. Pictures.
