Under Armour, one of the most popular clothing and fitness data companies, has been investigating claims of a data breach after a cybercriminal posted millions of customer records on a hacker forum. As told by the seller to TechCrunch, the data was taken in a breach that took place in November 2025. The responsibility of the breach was claimed by the Everest ransomware gang, and they confirmed it by posting the same on their dark web leak site. The incident came into the limelight when the breach notification website 'Have I Been Pwned' got a copy of the stolen data and notified the 72 million individuals by email that their information had been compromised. According to Have I Been Pwned, the Under Armour dataset consisted of email addresses,
names, dates of birth, genders, and even ZIP codes of the customers. Some parts of the data also included details related to the purchases of people. The seller of the data offered TechCrunch a sample of the stolen data, which most probably comprised millions of records of Under Armour customer purchases. And what's scary is that the data matches the same that has been flagged on Have I Been Pwned. The stolen data also includes the email addresses of Under Armour employees. Under Armour spokesperson Matt Dornic said, ' The company is aware of claims that an unauthorized third party obtained certain data.' He further said, 'Our investigation of this issue, with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts, is ongoing. Importantly, at this time, there’s no evidence to suggest this issue affected UA.com or systems used to process payments or store customer passwords. What we know at this time is that the number of affected customers with any sort of information that could be considered sensitive is a very small percentage.' He concluded by saying, 'Any implication that sensitive personal information of tens of millions of customers has been compromised is unfounded.'
