Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty are headlining the spiritual sequel of JP Dutta’s iconic Border. Titled Border 2, it will feature a reprised version of the chartbuster song, Sandese
Aate Hai. Originally written by Javed Akhtar and composed by Anu Malik, the track was sung by Sonu Nigam. After the teaser of the song titled Ghar Kab Aaoge released, Malik demanded credit for the music in one of his interviews. He expected his name to be mentioned. In the latest development, the veteran composer-singer clarified that the makers of Border 2 have given him due credit in Ghar Kab Aaoge.
Anu Malik issues clarification
In a fresh statement, which was also shared on Instagram Story, Anu clarified, “I would like to clarify about the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ that Bhushan ji has already credited me with immense warmth and respect. This is a unique collaboration that I am genuinely proud of, and I have also shared my thoughts publicly across my social media platforms. Any reports suggesting otherwise are based on incorrect reporting. I stand by this collaboration with pride and gratitude.”
Anu Malik demands credit
Malik, in an interview with
PTI, reacted to
Sandese Aate Hai’s recreation. He said, “I believe the song is recreated. I’m not a part of it. I’m sure they will give my name to it as I’ve created the song. They should because people know about our contribution, they can't get away. They can't make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hai... Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there (in their contribution), so they will have to put our name somewhere.”
Ghar Kab Aaoge, the version of
Sandese Aate Hai that will feature in
Border 2, is sung by Roop Kumar Rathod, Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh. The track originally composed by Malik is now reimagined by Mithoon. Manoj Muntashir has added additional lyrics. The song will be launched this week.
Border 2 also stars Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, Paramvir Singh Cheema among many others. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, releases on January 23, 2026.
