Predator Badlands Scores Biggest Opening In Franchise With $80 Million Worldwide

Predator: Badlands, written and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, created a record with a $40 million opening in the US. Additionally, it was the number one film internationally with an opening of $80 million worldwide.
The new Predator film, which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, broke the previous franchise opening record of Alien Vs Predator of $38.3 million back in August 2004. Here's how the film has exceeded expectations so far.

Writer-director Dan Trachtenberg's third Predator project has paid off on its gamble. It is the most expensive Predator film produced so far, with a budget of $105 million. With an $80 million opening and half coming from the US, Walt Disney Co.’s 20th Century Studios will be pleased with its start. This latest story is the eighth film in the franchise, but interest in it has not waned, as the movie has scored 85 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers also gave it an A- on CinemaScore. The first Predator film was released in 1987. This latest instalment has Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi playing a young, outcast predator who joins forces with an android researcher (Elle Fanning) on a remote planet. This is Trachtenberg's third project in the Predator universe after Prey (2022) and the animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers. For this latest film, the filmmaker insisted on making the Predator the protagonist of the tale.
